The following provides a more expansive view of what RE:FORM is and by what means and method through which we feel called by the Holy Spirit to put this into practice:
The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, “Go down to the potter’s shop, and I will speak to you there.” So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over. Jeremiah 18:1-4
Addressing seven arenas of world crisis:
Immoral and corrupt leadership | Moral and just leadership
The crisis: In countries on every inhabited continent there are immoral and corrupt leaders serving their own interests above serving their people.
The solution: Raise up moral and just leaders committed to putting the people they serve above any personal ambition.
Poor health and disease | Health and wellness
The crisis: In a world plagued with killer diseases such as AIDS and malaria, more than 2.5 billion people don’t have access to clean water as millions die from water-related illnesses each year.*
The solution: Take quality health care to impoverished regions and eliminate many water-related illnesses through an initiative to give clean water to everyone.
Environmental decline | Environmental stewardship
The crisis: Climate change is putting current ecosystems in disarray and threatening lives of millions of poor people, especially in low-lying areas such as Bangladesh where nearly 8,500 square miles and 17 million people could be affected by changes over the next 150 years.**
The solution: Through awareness, lifestyle changes and new sustainable energy seek to reduce and slow humanity’s impact on climate change
World hunger | A healthy and fed world
The crisis: More than 2 billion people worldwide are starving and another 2 billion are malnourished.
The solution: Educate, equip and feed people in regions devastated by famine and deterioration to their soil.
Human injustice | A voice for justice for all
The crisis: Each year more than one million children are sold into the sex slave trade industry, stealing their innocence and childhood.*** We also are working with other organizations to bring an end to forced labor, child labor, child soldiering, and child abuse, as well as working with war victims, people suffering from HIV/AIDs, street children, and refugees.
The solution: Help bring an end to human injustices of every type through awareness and activism.
Illiteracy | A literate and educated world
The crisis: More than 800 million adults in the world are illiterate.****
The solution: Help eliminate illiteracy through educational programs and resourcing, especially those in developing nations which suffer from the highest illiteracy rates.
Confusion and spiritual deadness | Wholeness and life found in Christ
The crisis: Of the world’s more than six billion people, more than two-thirds do not profess to know Jesus Christ.
The solution: Through loving others and showing them the heart of Christ, our creed is backed by our deeds and shows the redemptive love and forgiveness God has for humanity.
